We recently completed a pig finishing unit in South Yorkshire combining ventilation, penning, dry feeding, automatic feeders with water supply, drinkers, activity materials, and misting. The system that we installed here is very flexible because its length is freely selectable. We were able to achieve our customer’s individual design requirements, with the partition of the pen being the desired height to meet their needs.
Lighting is provided via Flex LED tube lamps. The main cable runs through the entire house without any plug connections and thus ensures that the entire power remains in the main line. Due to the plug & play principle, the tube lamps can be installed in any position, and all connections are also completely waterproof to allow for high-pressure washing.

Unlike other suppliers, Big Dutchman doesn’t simply provide stainless steel troughs, but sophisticated feeders that leave nothing to chance. The PigNic offers easy adjustment of the amount of feed to be dispensed. A 360° pivoted dosing mechanism allows the feed to flow freely so it can be operated independently by the pigs. A separate pipe and nipple for water means the animals are able to mix the feed and water at the outside sections of the trough to form a wet ration, ensuring a better feed conversion rate (FCR). Equipped with two or three drinking nipples, a small opening in the trough allows excess water to run off, whilst a feed-saving collar keeps the pigs from wasting feed. Furthermore, the deep stainless steel trough is arranged at some distance above the ground to facilitate thorough cleaning underneath, maintaining a hygienic environment.
