Success in Staffordshire – a customer review

In this article we are showcasing a fantastic, newly completed 360′ x 80′ broiler unit in Staffordshire.

The site was completed in August 2021, with 56,000 birds placed on 30th August. After this ‘success in Staffordshire’, We felt it was the perfect time to have a chat with the site owner, Ed.

Products installed

Newquip supplied and installed a full complement of Big Dutchman equipment which included – Drinkers complete with automatic flushing and electric hoist, 50/50 split feeding system compromising of the Fluxx 330 auto flood pan, Flexvey auger, Bird Weighing, 4 x 100kw JetMaster indirect heaters, BD Zeus LED Batwing lights (installed by PS Higgins), and of course a full climate control system capable of an air exchange of less than a minute c/w weather station, alarm system, and Big Farm Network.

Why choose Newquip?

Ed chose Newquip because Big Dutchman have a massive reputation globally which he felt comfortable with. “The equipment spec was high and above some of the other companies. I like the Viper control system; it is easy to use.” Ed added “I found Newquip staff friendly, helpful and approachable.”

Ed was impressed with the Newquip fitters work ethic, feeling they worked hard and got on with the job, and was particularly impressed with Newquip fitter Gregor, saying “I really liked Gregor, nothing was too big of an issue for him”.

A team effort

Throughout the build, Newquip worked alongside Clarke Construction Group, PS Higgins Electrical, Knights Construction, Agri Management Solutions, Collinson Silos, and George Gardner. Ed explained “Coordination and organisation with other contractors worked well”, he continued “The quality of the equipment supplied is good and the team communicated with me throughout”.

Advice to others

When asked what advice he would give to people taking similar steps to himself, Ed advised, “Do your research and go and see as many sites as you possibly can. Look at the control panels and make sure you can use them and speak to farmers who already use the kit.”

Ed concluded, “Overall I am happy with both the kit and the experience working with Newquip”.
