Our pair of trucks are constantly on the roads, travelling the length and breadth of the country, so it was essential that we worked out every possible detail in their design to ensure the highest standards.
The eye-catching 660hp V8 Scania tractors are home from home for our drivers Steve and Sam. We opted for Newquip blue and orange colours to make sure they would be instantly recognisable when out and about. Our Transport Manager, Gill Thomas, said, "The trucks are a great advert for the company. We very much see our drivers and their trucks are Newquip's ambassadors to the industries we serve, so we wanted them both to be the absolute best!"
The trucks typically operate with either walking floor or curtainsider trailers. They therefore had to be specced accordingly to ensure no stone would be left unturned. Harsh UK manufacture a wide range of high-performance hydraulic equipment and truck components for the haulage, waste and agricultural industries. Gill added, "We chose Harsh for the hydraulics principally because their system is compact, lightweight, and very simple to operate. It was important for us to be able to discharge loads from the walking floors quickly and reliably. Harsh's whole wet kit installation is neat, well-engineered, and very space-efficient."
With the trucks fitted with the required hydraulic components, custom-made catwalk/chassis infill panels were added to complete the final specification. Built in a lifting tag axle configuration, the trucks benefit from notable advantages in both manoeuvrability and traction when working in off-road situations such as unmade roads and forest tracks.
Our drivers in particular are delighted with the end result, continually receiving compliments on these superb vehicles. It was definitely a job well done for all involved, bringing together a whole host of bespoke solutions to meet our specific individual needs.
